RiseA global community of rising leaders

What is Rise?

The world’s most important problems will be solved by tomorrow’s leaders. Yet too often, the most talented people never realize their full potential for global impact.

Either they are never discovered, become isolated at a young age, lack access to opportunities and resources to develop their ideas, or face social and economic barriers that keep them from using their talents for good.

Rise is on a mission to find extraordinary young people who need opportunity and support them for life as they use their talents to serve others.

An initiative of Schmidt Futures and the Rhodes Trust, Rise will build a global community of future leaders, connecting everyone who applies with a network of peers, learning resources, and additional opportunities from Rise partners around the world. Each year, Rise will select 100 Global Winners, ages 15 to 17, and provide them with individualized support throughout their lives as they commit their talents to building a better world. Winners will attend a residential summit, receive need-based financial support for education and internships, and have access to funding to scale up their social impact throughout their careers.

Set Up a Profile and Introduce Yourself.

When is the closing date?

Deadline: January 29, 20

What does the application process look like?

The first part of the application is all about getting to know you as an individual - your background, your passions, and your talents.

You will be asked a series of questions that you can respond to with short videos. Upload a selfie or a video from your library - get creative! Don’t worry about being polished on your first try, as you can submit your response more than once. Others will see this video, so think about what you want them to know about you.

You will also be asked to provide feedback on the videos your peers submit. Use this process to think how you might improve your own videos, then re-record and submit them again.

Along the way, you’ll hear from experts and leaders around the world who will give advice on strengthening your application.
