The world’s most important problems will be solved by tomorrow’s leaders. Yet too often, the most talented people never realize their full potential for global impact.
Either they are never discovered, become isolated at a young age, lack access to opportunities and resources to develop their ideas, or face social and economic barriers that keep them from using their talents for good.
An initiative of Schmidt Futures and the Rhodes Trust, Rise will build a global community of future leaders, connecting everyone who applies with a network of peers, learning resources, and additional opportunities from Rise partners around the world. Each year, Rise will select 100 Global Winners, ages 15 to 17, and provide them with individualized support throughout their lives as they commit their talents to building a better world. Winners will attend a residential summit, receive need-based financial support for education and internships, and have access to funding to scale up their social impact throughout their careers.
If you are between the ages of 15 and 17 as of July 1, 2021, and interested in serving others throughout your life, you are eligible to apply to Rise.
It does not matter what country you live in, background you come from, or academic experiences you have had. Whether you’re interested in science, art, community organizing, or any other topic, we want to hear from you
To apply to Rise, start by downloading our mobile application. You’ll find it in the app store for iOS and Android by searching for “Hello World – Rise.” Our app is designed to work all over the planet, so as many people as possible can apply. However, if you are unable to access a mobile device that can download the app, you can contact us on our website to apply through an alternative platform, such as WhatsApp.
Set Up a Profile and Introduce Yourself.
Deadline: January 29, 20
The first part of the application is all about getting to know you as an individual - your background, your passions, and your talents.
You will be asked a series of questions that you can respond to with short videos. Upload a selfie or a video from your library - get creative! Don’t worry about being polished on your first try, as you can submit your response more than once. Others will see this video, so think about what you want them to know about you.
You will also be asked to provide feedback on the videos your peers submit. Use this process to think how you might improve your own videos, then re-record and submit them again.
Along the way, you’ll hear from experts and leaders around the world who will give advice on strengthening your application.
